Well! Today was rather exciting for me. I was heading over to my boyfriend's place and I wound up as one of the cars involved in a three car pile-up. To any of you who read this, don't worry, I'm fine. I'm babbling on and on about it, but I'm fine. ^_^().

Alright, here's what happened, there was a Pregant Woman (PW), the Stupid Girl that caused the crash (SG)and then there was me. It's raining lightly and I'm driving along at the speed limit of 50mph on a three lane road. Up ahead, as I'm approaching, PW in her mini-SUV is getting ready to turn, as in she's slowing down to take the turn. The Stupid Girl in her white Dodge Neon is barreling down towards PW, expecting her to have been moved out of the way by the time she gets there. SO SG LOOKS DOWN AT HER GPS INSTEAD OF WATCHING THE ROAD. SG looks up from her GPS and sees that PW hasn't moved yet, and tries to swerve out of the way. However, by this time, I'm right next to SG and she slams into me, scaring the absolutely hell out of me. She doesn't avoid the PW either, as her Dodge Neon takes out the back left of the PW's mini-SUV. After all this has happened, I get out and make sure the driver that caused this whole mess is okay because her car was trashed. People had already gone to check on the PW to see if she was okay. PW was taken to the hospital just to make sure she was okay since she got a bump on her head from the crash, but the EMT's said they weren't worried. I was shaken, and the SG that caused the entire thing was okay too.

Onto the condition of our cars! As I mentioned earlier, the back left corner and part of the side of PW's mini-SUV was trashed by the SG's Dodge Neon. I'm assuming this is because the Dodge was lower than the SUV. Anyway, my right mirror was broken, but the holder for it was fine. Also, my right passenger door was damaged and now that can't be opened. Other than that, I just suffered superficial damage. But the SG who caused the mess? Holy crap, her car is TRASHED! The windshield is cracked all over, air bags on both sides are deployed, there's a dent in the left side from where she slammed into me, her right tire/axle is bent INWARD, her hood is bent too, and the entire front right side was caved in. I think her back passenger door may have been damaged too, but I'm not sure if she just forgot to close it or not.

There was one thing that did freak me out though about the whole thing. One of the police officers came up to me and my mom(who left work to make sure I was ok) and told me that given the facts that the roads was wet and that I had been slammed while going the speed limit of 50mph, I had done a hell of job staying in my lane. There was a left turn lane next to me that I didn't even touch the cars in, and I managed to keep my car in control and got it to the grassy median, where I parked it. He said that I could have wound up swerving and going into the oncoming traffic. I had never even considered that a possibility of what could have happened. I guess I'm damn lucky. All parties involved were. It just goes to show you that accidents can happen in the blink of an eye, and you need to drive as safely as you can... and not barrel down a lane where a person is turning right on and assume they're going to get the hell out of the way by the time YOU get there. That's just stupid. Anyway, she was cited with reckless driving and her insurance has to pay for all damages, which is around 9000 bucks including her own car's damages. The Stupid Girl is 17 years old, and I know she doesn't have that kinda cash. She's not going to live long if she keeps pulling that crap.

Now I'm probably going to get people getting on me, possibly thinking that I shouldn't be so callous. Screw that. I managed to drive around fine as a teenager, and I know all of my friends did as teens. That little moron could have killed a woman, her unborn child, herself and me today because she wasn't paying attention to the road and was looking at her stupid GPS. When you're driving at those speeds on wet roads, you don't pay attention to the little device telling you how to get somewhere! You pay attention to the road! And if you need to check the damn thing, do it at a stop light or pull over and check it! Think of the people around you as well as yourself!

Phew. Ok. Sorry about that huge rant. It just drives me NUTS about these idiot drivers. Anyway, like I said before, I'm fine. A wee bit pissed that I couldn't see my boyfriend today, but otherwise fine. I'll go see him Friday. Oh, and the icing on the cake? This Saturday's my birthday! Happy 23rd Birthday to me!
